Filtrete Blog Tour

I can clean my house from top to bottom but somehow the monkey's still find things to put it in their mouths, and now with "Hotdog" here who is four months I know we are about to be shoved back into the " put things in mouth" stage real fast.

Since most people with allergies develop them during childhood, Dr. Alanna Levine, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), shared some of the ABC’s to help maintain a healthier home environment for children:

A is for Avoid: Whenever possible, avoid irritants that often trigger allergies, such as products made of feathers or down. Use hypoallergenic pillows on your child’s bed, and limit exposure to perfume, talcum powder, hair spray, air fresheners, fabric softeners or other strong odors or sprays. Strong fragrances and odors may aggravate allergy symptoms.

B is for Balance: Maintain a consistent balance in the home to help minimize allergens. Keep the windows shut and use central air conditioning during high pollen seasons to help protect children from pollen particles that trees, grasses and weeds release into the air. These particles can harbor in the eyes, nose, and airways, causing allergy symptoms to flair for those allergic to pollen. Also, give children washable, non-allergenic stuffed toys when possible, and be sure to wash the ones played with the most on a weekly basis, in hot water at least 130 degrees Fahrenheit.

C is for Change: Change items that are easy to neglect but are important for maintaining a healthier home, such as leaky faucets, pipes and other high moisture areas that are common places for mold growth. Don’t neglect their air in the home either. Change your filter every three months, and use a high performance filter, such as a Filtrete Elite Allergen Reduction Filter from 3M.

Our 5 year old has allergies, dust mites and dogs, eeek! Dusting is not a once a week deal for this house, more like daily, especially since our house is on a busy street. We can't afford to miss a day of dusting. We must do at least a quick wipe down daily. Our 5 year old has to have hypoallergenic bedding that needs to be washed up to twice a week. If we fall behind on any of these things he can break out into a rash.

I haven’t tried the Filtrete Elite Allergen Reduction Filter from 3M yet, but I do like that it removes 94% of large airborne particles, such as household dust, pollen and mold spores from the air passing through the filter. It also removes up to 40 times more microscopic particles such as smoke, smog and particles that can carry bacteria and viruses, than ordinary fiberglass filters.

For more healthy home living tips, money saving offers, filter change reminders and more, you can register to receive seasonal e-newsletters through the Clear Advantages program by visiting www.Filtrete.com.

You can also get these and more by following them on Twitter at @Filtrete.

#FiberChoice Blog Tour {Review}

About FiberChoice®
FiberChoice® Chewable Fiber Supplement
FiberChoice® Chewable Fiber Supplement is a simple, convenient, natural fiber that provides the regular benefits of fiber, while also helping to support the immune system, digestive tract, and overall health.

The main ingredient in FiberChoice® tablets is inulin, the same healthy fiber found naturally in many fruits and vegetables.
Inulin is “prebiotic,” which means it nourishes the friendly, “good” bacteria in the digestive system.

Fiber Facts
Most people need 25 to 30 grams of dietary fiber each day, but most of us get only 12 to 15 grams a day.
One daily serving of FiberChoice® – just two chewable tablets – contains 4 grams of dietary fiber.
Fiber is typically associated with regularity, but fiber is also important for overall digestive and full-body health.
FiberChoice® should be taken every day as part of an ongoing effort to live a more healthy life.
Prebiotic Benefits for Full-Body Health

Prebiotics are different from probiotics. Probiotics are “good bacteria” that live naturally in the gut, and are also typically found in yogurt or as supplements. Prebiotics are a plant-based fiber that feed the probiotics in the gut.
Probiotics play an important role in full-body health by helping us digest our food and absorb nutrients, supporting immunity, and decreasing the ration of harmful bacteria in the gut.
Our digestive system performs a constant “balancing act” between good, healthy bacteria and unhealthy bacteria. When the levels of bacteria are balanced, the body functions well. However, stress, poor diet and certain medications can disrupt this balance, allowing bad bacteria to multiply. Good bacteria help to keep the number of unhealthy bacteria in check.
The prebiotics in FiberChoice® help probiotics grow and thrive to maintain a healthy, balanced digestive system and promote full-body health.
FiberChoice® can be used along with foods or supplements containing probiotics, like Activia, as part of your daily health routine.
Product Information
FiberChoice® is available in four formulas: FiberChoice® original formula; FiberChoice®
Weight Management; FiberChoice® Plus Calcium, and FiberChoice® Plus Antioxidants.
FiberChoice® flavor varieties include orange, pomegranate, assorted berries, strawberry, sugar-free orange medley, and sugar-free assorted fruit (green apple, grape and strawberry).
FiberChoice® is available in 10, 90 and 220-count bottles, ranging in price from $2.49 to $19.99
Find FiberChoice®
FiberChoice® products are available at your local food, drug and discount stores.
For more information, visit www.fiberchoice.com.
Follow FiberChoice® on Twitter at @FiberChoice.

I chose to get the FiberChoice Weight Management in the Sugar Free Strawberry for my review ( thought it would be the best choice since I just had baby "Hotdog"). At first I was a little put off to try them because I had this feeling that they would have this chalky taste ( like tums) to them, they didn't! The taste was not bad at all, pretty decent.
Fiber Choice are chewable but they are big in size (about the size of a quarter) but they are not too bad to take. They are a bit dry, drink some water afterwards and it helps. I have only been taking them for a week now and I look forward to seeing what happens at the end of the 90 count bottle.
I like the fact that they have several choices to chose from, you have a weight management, plus antioxidants, plus calcium +D, and then two flavor varieties of the most fiber; Orange and assorted fruit. The price isn’t too bad either, the 90 count bottle cost me $12.99(ish) on sale. On average they range from $14.99 to $17.99 depending on which store you purchase them and if they are on sale or not.
Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of FiberChoice and received a coupon to facilitate my review and a gift code to thank me for taking the time to participate. All opinions are that of my own.

Bank of America: Save Time {$50 gift card giveaway}

King Baboon and I have been around the block a time or two when it comes to banks in the 11 years we have been together. Two years ago we decided to give Bank of America a go and we have not looked back once!
In those two years I have been blessed with a bank that is simple, and who couldn't use "simple" in their daily lives. I certainly need and depend on it with 4 boys. Bank of America offer people many ways to save time, and this is even more important right now with the holiday season upon us.

Quick and easy deposits: During the holidays we all are searching for a few more hours in the day. With Bank of America, depositing checks is easy. That means no more having to go inside the banks. Bank of America Deposit Image ATMs make depositing checks easier than ever!

Banking on the go: Set up mobile banking that provides secure access to your account, just by downloading the mobile banking app which allows you to check balances, transfer money, pay bills and locate ATMS—which is great for travelling. There is also another option called text banking that allows you to send a text and receive your balance in a reply once you sign up.

I will admit this freaked me out at first. I was certain that I would screw this up and somehow give my life's worth to some dude in New York, but it was easy and so far no problems!

Save yourself that trip to the bank: Forget going to the bank during the holidays! Just take advantage of the Bank of America online banking. It allows you to set up alerts, check balances and transfer money all from the Bank of America website!
Never before have I felt like my bank was doing what they could to make life more simple for me. So many times when businesses try to make things simple they end up making things harder, this is not the case with Bank of America. Bank of America is also helping me save money with the Keep the Change feature, and again with 4 growing boys I can use all the help I can get.

Visit Bank of America today to read about great tips on how to get back your time during the Holiday Season ( and long after)!

Eggo Real Fruit Pizza: Review

Let it be known to the world that I AM NOT a morning person, which is hard when you have boys who are very much morning people. Eeek! Breakfast here can be dicey at times, when you add the fact that the mama loathes morning and some kids being picky eaters, the next World War can start at any moment!

Eggo has introduced the Real Fruit Pizza, topped with fruit and granola. We baked ours, but you can also make them in the microwave in a minute! They come in two flavors: Strawberry Granola and Mixed Berry Granola!
My oldest monkey and the Dh loved these. Our middle monkey ( the pickest eater on the planet) wouldn't even attempt to try them, and the baby monkey pick everything off and left the crust part! HA HA HA! You may see this as a no go, but I will take it! LOL

These were super easy to make and they didn't take long, which met while these were cooking I was able to try and wake my tired booty up!

The Moment You Knew: EPT (Review)

E.P.T. has decided to do something special to help moms remember that important moment when they first knew they were pregnant. Here is what the case looks like (please note that is not my test, lol).

Seeing that I am on my 5th pregnancy you can say I have a lot of these memories stored in my brain and I remember each of them like they were yesterday.

Christmas Time 2000: King Baboon, my mom and I went to Idaho to spend Christmas with my sister and her family. I thought it was weird when I broke down crying when the plane took off. I have never been a great flier but it has never made me cry. Two days before Christmas I had mentioned to my sister that my period was late. Her and I stuck out to buy pregnancy tests. When we came home we ran upstairs to take the test and boy was I shocked when it came back... PREGNANT! I wrapped the test and gave it to Jim. Now we have our wonderful 8 year old "D".

September 2004: King Baboon had just returned from his second deployment to Iraq. Really do I need to say more??? I ended up with a UTI and doctor asked if I could be pregnant.... ummm no! Or wait few days later took a test, and now I give you "J"!

July 2006: Vegas trip.... came home and a month later I was missing something again. Went out with some girlfriends, had a bit too much to drink and decided I was brave enough when I got home to take a test. Opps!! Pregnant, sorry baby "M" for all those drinks!

June 2009: This pregnancy came as the biggest shocker. I had thought we were done, didn't want anymore babies ( ashamed to admit this now). I was over 2 weeks later and finally decided to take the plunge to take the test. Pregnant! It took me many weeks to come to terms with this, and I am still hard on myself because this pregnancy would have been our sweet baby Cameron who we lost at 13 weeks. Goes to show you don't realize how much you really want something until it is gone!

March 2010: 2 days after my 30th birthday, 3-12-2010. Dh and I had decided we did need/want another baby with everything in us. I was too scared to look at the test, so after I took it I walked away and when the time came Dh went in to see the results. He walked into the living room and asked " what do you think the results are"? I immediately said negative but he started to laugh and said " WRONG, PREGNANT"!! I was so happy, I busted out in tears.

I have all my pregnancy tests from all 5 of my babies. Some may say it is weird to keep them, even gross but for me it is important. It was the start of some amazing journeys!

How about you, do you remember when? Did you keep your pregnancy tests?

Infantino Jumbo Wheel Play Space: Review

I’m having some much fun being part of Infantino Test Drive Mom – I am getting the chance to see some of their newest products for baby.

The most recent item I recieved was the Infantino Jumbo Wheel Play Space

About the Jumbo Wheel Play Space:

The Jumbo Wheel Play Space is packed with fun and space for crawling and tummy time activity. Strategic activities such as a detachable mirror, teethers and an easy-to-press flower which plays a 15-second musical tune are placed throughout the mat to encourage reaching, grasping and tummy play time. Play space measures 47” in diameter.

This baby item doesn't get any simpler. Open the box and unfold the mat, the end! Who wouldn't love that. I love the vibrant colors they used in making this mat and it has all things that are important for sensory learning. When your done with the play mat just fold it back up and store it away. Extremely compact, folds up to be the size of a bath towel.

Since we know have this plus a play mat I am putting one of them in the van to keep for on the go, so we are always ready for fun time!

The retail* price of the Infantino Jumbo Wheel Play Space is $29.99.

Tree Top Blog Tour

I was recently asked to review products by Tree Top. Who doesn't love apples? Apple pie? Apple Juice? Apples can go in just about any kind of recipe for an added sweet and healthy taste!

Information Provided:
Finding and cooking summer recipes that are healthy and delicious can be challenging. However, making summertime favorites like chicken wings and raspberry layered bars better for your diet proves easier than you think. Substituting applesauce in place of butter and replacing white sugar with apple juice can cut fat and calories from your diet while adding a boost of cancer-fighting antioxidants and vitamin C

We recieved 3 products to try on this blog tour:
My oldest loves apple sauce and when he saw we got a little bottle of Tree Top 3 Blend juice he asked for it in his lunch pack for school! A nice change from your juice boxes!

Tree Top Trim Mango Peach Drink:

I stole this bad boy for myself. I love all things mango and since I am now pregnant the need for mangos is even stronger1 This drink was yum-o!

Tree Top Apple Sauce:

I gre up on Tree Top Applesauce so this was not a first time trying it, in fact it is the brand I turn to when I give my boys applesauce. I love using applesauce in all kinds of recipes.

Here is a yummy recipe I found on the website that I plan on making this Sunday. I wish I could smell through my computer, because I would sit here and sniff this picture all day!

Apple Cinnamon French Toast:
Serves 3
A breakfast Treat

Ingridients:

* 3 large eggs
* 3/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
* 1/2 cup Tree Top or Seneca Apple Sauce
* 1 tablesppon butter
* 6 slices of your favorite bread

Directions:

Break eggs into large bowl. Add apple sauce and cinnamon. Gently whisk until well blended/ Set aside. Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat. Dip bread, make sure to coat each side. Place in skillet and cook 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Serve with apples slices and maple syrup.
Yummy!! In an effort to celebrate the benefits and versatility of cooking with apples, Tree Top will launch an "America's Secret Ingredient" contest on June 15th. Contestants can submit their apple-themed recipes for a chance to win a trip to New York City to attend the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival in October, have their recipes showcased and meet some of the Food Network stars.

See contest rules for complete details.

AWESOME!!!

Infantino's Fold and Go Bouncer: Review

Todau I am bringing you my second product I am reviewing while being part of Infantino's test drive mom program... their Fold and Go Bouncer.

Fold & Go Bouncer ($49.99) is a perfect fit for our home. We are busting at the seams of our house and adding any new product to our house can be difficult at best. The Fold and Go Bouncer is so compact and lightweight it can be taken and stored anywhere and fast!

Here is a brief demo.

This by far was the easiest bouncer I have ever put together. Okay, it may be the first bouncer I have ever put together, but I have seen my husband put many together. His main complaint in the past was holes not lining up. NONE OF THAT WITH THIS PRODUCT!

Fantastic for babies up to 25 lbs and the music is very soothing. I also love the cool mutted colors that this bouncer has. There is nothing I hate more ( well besides big objects that I have no room for) than loud colors that just clash with everything.

Here are some details on the Fold and Go Bouncer:

  • Designed to go anywhere! Easy to move from room to room. Perfect for travel. Compact for storage!
  • Unique easy-to-fold, space saving design.
  • Includes plush seat, padded head support and waist harness.
  • Removable entertainment bar adjusts and includes two detachable toys!
  • Comforting bouncing action occurs with baby’s natural movement.
  • Machine washable seat cover.
  • Simple, no-hassle assembly!
  • Requires 3 "AA" batteries
  • For babies up to 25lbs (11.3kgs)

I am giving this product two thumbs up!!!

Infantino Twist and Fold Activity Gym

I had recently mentioned that I was asked to be part of an awesome campaign for Infantino products.

Today I am going to talk about this first product... the Infantino Twist and Fold Activity Gym.

" Unique twist and fold action makes using and storing gym easy! Pops up in one simple motion and folds down for easy storage or travel. Comes with 4 linkable toys and bolster pillow for tummy time. Encourages reaching and engages baby's senses. "

We received the unisex one in the above picture.

I have bought many play mats in my day, and boy have they changed since having our first son back in 2001. They all claim to fold nicely and store away in a blink of an eye. Trust me when I say a lof lie! This one is amazing. We do not have a whole lot of extra space in our house, so everything needs to have a place and be just so. I can fold this activity gym and it will fit anywhere, under the bed, bedroom closet, even under the entertainment center. Perfection!!

I also adore the color scheme in the pattern we go ( unisex). So bright!! Fabric is soft and appears like it will clean up well. This should come as no suprise when I say my favorite part of this gym are the toys... especially the monkey! Hello the bi line of my blog is not just a saying, it is my life!!! HA HA HA! Jungle theme.... perfection.

I could have saved myself and others a whole lot of money with my past activity gyms had this one been out for years!

Buy it:
You can buy the Twist and Fold Activity Gym for 39.99 US$ (+tax and shipping)

You can follow Infantino on Twitter
