Remember When: Street Lights

Remember When.... your parents told you before you went out to play to be home before the street light came on that night?

I heard this a lot growing up and now that I am a mother I could not imagine saying this to one of my monkeys! Times they are changing!

Remember When: 80's Dolls Then and Now

I am a child of the 80's and I recall with great memories the dolls I use to play with as a small girl. Dolls that were bright, young and modest. These same dolls are making a come back for the girls today to play with. Now we all know I do not have little girls, but if I did I would be worried about what a lot of dolls out on the market are teaching these girls.

Here are two perfect examples and you would have to be living in a closet to not have noticed these changes....

Why change the looks so much? They are good enough to make a comeback, there is proof of this. They are sitting on the shelves of all major stores.

I am no prude, far from actually, just curious! Update yes, but why must we alter their body types so much?

P.S. Please do not even get me started on the Bratz dolls! I roll my eyes when I walk by them at the stores. @@

Remember When...

The hardest part of your day is figuring out what you were going to wear to school that day? Now the hardest part is teaching your child it is not what's on the outside that counts but what is on the inside? Now it's teaching your children that God makes no mistakes and makes us just the way he needs and wants us to be.

Remember When: They were too young....

Remember when your kids were too young to ask you questions, for example... about your stretch marks from bringing them into the word. Hey 'D', you remember this, I bought you into this world, I'll take you out!

The two of you did not fight over everything and anything!!

This is D and J at J's first Christmas. J was so so very sick at the time. He had RSV and right before this picture was taken we were told by his doctor that if he lost anymore weight, even a tad and we were going to have to admit him to the hospital.

Thank goodness that was a turning point and we were able to keep him home with us, but he remained on a breathing machine for a few months. He was not a happy camper on his first Christmas.

So I " Remember When" the two older monkey's played together nicely, with no mean words, whines or putting their hands on one another. Maybe one day that will come back?
