"D" is now 8!!!

Do you see it... how can you miss it... this sweet hunk of burning love who stole my heart many years ago and hasn't given it back is now 8 years old!

"D" turned eight on Tuesday and yes I am just now getting around to the blog post. My kids have a way of making their birthday's last days, instead of just one, so my computer time has been limited at best!

Each of my babies have their own song, and the above one is 'D's, Forever Young by Rod Stewart! I'll admit I still cry when I hear this song because I automatically think of my sweet stud, who is growing up way to fast for my liking!

He is a blessing that I will never fully deserve, but am so glad I was given!

I encourage you to click on the 'D' label on the right hand side of my blog and read up on this fun kid!

Happy Birthday baby boy, you will always have my heart!

News Flash..........

The most important thing she'd learned over the years was that there was no way to be a perfect mother, & a million ways to be a good one. ---- Jill Churchill

Words to live by, right?

Since finding out I was pregnant for the fourth time, not even a week ago, I have been beating myself up over the fact that I am not excited over the moon about this news. Everyone else seems to be there. What the heck is wrong with me, after all I am the mama???

I have been battling with the idea's of how am I ever going to get a grip of 4 babies. I am lacking sleep now, how am I going to get through the days ( not to mention the nights).

Than I found the above quote, and it just fit! Don't get me wrong, I am NOT jumping over the moon yet, but I know I will get there. I am not a perfect mother, in fact I am not even a great mother ( is anyone shocked yet?), but I am a good mommy, one who wakes up every morning, and gives the new day her all. Granted there are probably at least 2 days a week that I loose before I even get a shower, lol!

Good thing kids get it, they get that tomorrow is a new day and that not everyday can be a perfect, great or even good day, but.... they are always willing to give you a hug and a kiss at the end of the day and continue to give you unconditional love.

The two little ones don't really get the whole new baby thing, but 'D' has been a rock star! He was on the fence over it when he first found out, but he has come around, man I wish I could ! Thanks 'D'!!!

Now I promise Punky Monkey's will not turn into a 24/ news feed on my life of a pregnant woman, but since I did go to the doctors yesterday and found out my due date I will share this bit of news... 03/25/2010. Now this being baby #4, I doubt I will make it that far, especially since "D' was the only one that went to 40 weeks ( actually 42 weeks), think I just jinxed myself???

Remember When: They were too young....

Remember when your kids were too young to ask you questions, for example... about your stretch marks from bringing them into the word. Hey 'D', you remember this, I bought you into this world, I'll take you out!

How about you.... Remember When.........

Remember When: You didn't fight?

Starting something new... yes... again!
Remember When asks you to share a time in your life with a picture and small caption.

Here is my first one.

Remember When...

The two of you did not fight over everything and anything!!
This is D and J at J's first Christmas. J was so so very sick at the time. He had RSV and right before this picture was taken we were told by his doctor that if he lost anymore weight, even a tad and we were going to have to admit him to the hospital.

Thank goodness that was a turning point and we were able to keep him home with us, but he remained on a breathing machine for a few months. He was not a happy camper on his first Christmas.

So I " Remember When" the two older monkey's played together nicely, with no mean words, whines or putting their hands on one another. Maybe one day that will come back?
HA HA HA

How about you? Remember when.....
Shall the story with me, either on your blog on in my comments.

Aloha Friday #23: Love-e

I think this is the first Friday in a long time that I am excited about!!! King Baboon and I are putting the monkey's to bed early to watch a movie and have a bottle ( or two) of wine. I know it might not be the most glamous date night, but I will take it, and I am looking forward to it. To see what movie we are going to watch, click here.

Aloha Friday's asks you to ask your readers a simple question, nothing that makes them think to much, after all it's Friday, time to hang loose!

Today's question is:

Did or do your kids have a love-e? What is it?
If you don't have kids, did you have a love-e when you were growing up?

My oldest, D, never really got attached to an object, he was very attached to me, especially with Jim being deployed the better part of his baby stage. 'J' has a blankie that has seen better days, and even right out of the wash it looks dirty! Baby M just got one for his birthday, which was only last weekend, but he has not let this thing go....
We took him to Toysrus on his special day at let him pick out anything he wanted, and this is all he wanted... he would look at other toys but never dropped this dog to pick something new. It is a shining star plush animal. You get to name a star after you if you buy one of the animals. This dog has gone every where in the short week it has been apart of our family. Church, school, grocery store, park, meals and of course bed time. I have drawn the line at letting the thing in the tub with him.

I hope you all have an awesome Friday and weekend!
Aloha!!!

Don't forget to head over to AN ISLAND LIFE for more Aloha Friday Fun!

Video games, friend of enemy?

Normally I do Aloha Friday and I am going to ask questions, tons actually, but they might require more thinking than the ones I ask on Aloha Friday, so I will sit this week out.

I need some views on video games/ computer time? 'D' who is 7 and in the second grade loves... Loves.... LOVES his computer games. The rule for the computer now is, " No computer on school days"! He gets the computer on Friday night, and the weekend with him having to be off it by 5pm on Sunday. Granted he is not on it 24/7 during that time, hi my name is Tena and I am addicted to my computer, so move it!!!

'D' does get the chance to earn the computer on Thursday night, if he comes home and gets Super-Dee-Duper on his practice spelling test they do on Thursday. Getting this means you got all your words and sentences right and you don't have to take it again on Friday. He gets this more times than not, and I think knowing he can earn the computer a night early is a big reward for him.

So here is my first round of questions ( see why no Aloha Friday today), do I stand alone with these computer rules? What are your computer rules in your house for your children?

Next, the big jolly man is bringing 'D' a Play Station for Christmas, is it mean of me to enforce the same rules for this system as I do the computer? I mean he can play it till he is blue in the face when on Christmas vacation, but once school starts back up, game over! Am I mean to take his brand new Santa gift away and only let him play on the weekends?

I am not a mean mama, it's not like I say no tv during the school week! I don't ride his ass when he gets things wrong at school. I ( we ) encourage him to take his time, do neat work and to do his best!

Help a girl out, give me the rules in your house, let me at least see if I am alone or have company on my bench?
XOXO!

Wordless Wednesday: Change

I think we will all agree that change can be a scary thing, but it is something that is ALWAYS needed.

So here is my small step of a change..... I give you a picture... a current picture of my big man, 'D'.
Super handsome right? You all should have been stalkers at my living room window last night, he was so into the election, I was one proud mama!

You all know I never follow the rules, I have to have words.

Touch Up's

'D' is taking his school picture next Thursday. The school sent home the paper work so we can pick our package. I have noticed this the last three years, they now offer touch ups to your photo's. Where the heck was this when I was in middle school, yikes!?!?

Now I for one will not be adding this on to 'D's package, because he doesn't need it, I mean he is only 7 and in the second grade. I asked my mom this afternoon if she would have gotten it had it been around back when I was growing up, and she said no. She feels that the picture needs to capture the moment in time forever, and I agree to a degree. I mean middle school is a cruel time, right?

What are your thoughts on school pictures being touched up?

I do know this is the year I get the famous " no front teeth" school picture. I am sure all of you with kids over the age of 3rd grade no the picture I am talking about. All gums!!! Growing up is oh so much fun, isn't it?!?

I'm sitting here staring at baby 'M' with my cell phone, and I can see the lights goinh off on it, but he is so darn happy and content right now, that I don't have it in me to go take it from him, what's the worse that can happen, he calls someone... won't be the first time. He breaks it, again won't be the first time. I think I might be the only person out in the world who could really care less about her cell phone, okay truth be known the phone is general. Maybe it is a sign that I was on it way too much as a teenager.

Haven't updated on a current book that I was reading in some time, so I will close on that note.
I am currently reading: Love the One You're With by Emily Griffin
Anyone read it? What are you reading?

I was going to do a Thursday 13 today, but I became to lazy, so I just ran with the blog entry today, bit of a mesh mash!
Hope you all have a great day.
XOXO

Busted by my own child!

Back when Jim and I just had D we all drove by my old high school and I had pointed out to Jim the bathroom window I climbed out of one afternoon, while in 9th grade! I so got away with it, as did 3 other girls! I just thought I was so cool ( then) now, I see the errors of my way, it was stupid... lesson learned, right??? Wrong!!!!!

I thought 'D' was sleeping in the back seat in his car seat, this is where I became wrong on this trip. All of a sudden I hear " I'm tellllliiiin Nanie"!!! At this point I had been out of school for about 4 years with the incident happening almost 8 years ago. 'D' had just grasped that his Nanie, was his mommies, mom.

I said okay, you do that, thinking he would for sure forget before we saw Nanie again that weekend, wrong again on my part! First thing that boy said when he walked into my mom's house was what he learned. My sweet little first born had thrown me under the bus, more like heaved my ass under the bus!

He may have just learned that his Nanie was my mommy but we had a long way to go in learning loyalties to the women who was in labor with you. Of course my mom was not surprised, shocked I let this information fall into the hands of my child, but on my part all those years ago... not shocked. Guess my mom was more on to me than I realized back than, aren't they always.

Now every time we drive by my old high school, 'D' talks about that window his mom climbed out of. Take my advice, just because they look like they are sleeping in the back seat does NOT mean they are...turds!

Just as I said in yesterday's post, I was unable to wait my turn at the library, I went and got New Moon yesterday, already put a good dent in it last night. I am weak for a good book series.
Happy Tuesday everyone.
