MADD, The Power of Parents: It’s Your Influence

MADD, The Power of Parents: It’s Your Influence

As a mother of 3 small boys the thought of them drinking and driving is still a few years away, but it is something I hold dear to my heart. I do not believe in waiting until they are old enough to drive to teach them about what can happen when drinking and driving. We talk about drugs ( including alcohol) and the effects it has on your life and the lives of those you love.

I have lost 2 people in my life do to drunk drivers, it is not an easy thing to go through. Talk to your kids, there is no such thing as starting to early. There are always ways to teach huge lessons in ways their young minds can understand. Communication is a huge factor is all of this!! We can only be with our kids for a short time, than we must set them free. Set them free with a good head on their shoulder, you teach them so they don't have to learn these important life lessons the hard way.

Power Of Parents: It’s Your Influence is a new website by MADD. The site includes research proven strategies to help prevent underage drinking.

There is also a section where you can ask and get advice from experts, tips and even a handbook for parents.

The website is new, but there is plenty of infomation to check out, including an online community!

Here are even more resources to check out:

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of MADD. A donation was made to MADD in my name to thank me for taking the time to participate.

It's amazing how many kids drink and do drugs and then brag about it in pictures on facebook and myspace.

We talk about it a lot in our house. My son is 14 and I don't think you can say it too much. Then you just have to pray that they are listening.
